Looking After yourself on KOH TAO

Looking After yourself on KOH TAO
WHILST  KOH TAO SEEMS LIKE THE PERFECT TROPICAL PARADISE, THERE ARE A FEW THINGS TO BEAR IN MIND HEALTHWISE TO ENSURE YOUR STAY HERE IS AS ENJOYABLE AS POSSIBLE.

On arrival in Thailand, the first thing to affect most people is the heat. Event if it is overcast, the sun is still strong, so take care to cover up, particularly your head and wear a good sunscreen. Be even more careful if you are in or by the sea, as reflection and deceptively cool sea breezes enhance burning. Wear a T-shirt fro example if you spend a while out snorkelling, but keep checking the backs of your legs for sunburn!

Drink lots of water to keep hydrated and let yourself acclimatize before going on a long hiike around the island. Coconut water is good to drink as it contains electrolytes, and rehydration salts are available as well. Effects of too much sun apart from burning include stomach upset, headaches, vimiting and fever and can be serious. seek immediate medical attention for this and/or heat exhaustion.

Insects, especially mosquitoes can also cause problems when they sting or bite. Cover up and wear a good repellent and try not to scratch any bites. Use tiger balm or lavender oil on bites to relieve inching and discomfort.

Upset stomach with vomiting and diarrhea is usually food related, but if could be a bacterial infection or virus. Reagardless of the cause, dehyfration can be a problem if fluids can't be kept down and medical attention may be needed. Also, minor cuts and scatches can get infected very quickly, so keep any wounds clean and visit a clinic if you need help....Koh Tao Perfect Blog

Hin Wong Bay are located on the east coast of Koh Tao, this is a large bay srrrounded by boulders. There is a lot to see here snorkelling and you cluld spend and entire day here exploring the bay. There are several underwater pinnacles covered in fertile coral, anemones and many kinds of fish can be seen here. Due to the rock fromations it is difficult to walk around the bay. so it's good idea to rent a kayak to get around. Go across to the area in front of the beach on the south side of the bay, it's one of the best snorkelling spots on the island. The water here is incredibly clear and you may be lucky enough to see great schools of sardines being chased by hungry trevally in water less than a metre deep. Another great place here for snorkelling is a point in thee north of the bay . Again, there is lots of well preserved coral and abundant marine life.
Hin Wong Bay is a quiet geraway and you can get here by road or boat. If you fell like waling, it takes about an hour from the junction at Sairee....Koh Tao Perfect Blog

GLUAY TEUN BAY or LIGHT HOUSE BAY (Popular sights of Koh Tao ...part 6)

GLUAY TEUN BAY or LIGHT HOUSE BAY (Popular sights of Koh Tao ...part 6)
Observed once by passing ships, the light house is now unused and today provides a reference for dive boats and longtails to locate and area where divers and snorkellers can still visit the peaceful waters and pristine aquatic flora and fauna of the bay.
The road down to the bay stops at a partly built resort about 200 metres before the sea, so you will need to continue climbing down the rocky hill. From here , you will also need to swim for another few hundred metes to the snorkelling point. It is easier and much more convenient to get here by boat....Koh Tao Perfect blog
